Expectations and economic sentiment indicators: a study of the Uruguayan case

The project "Expectations and economic sentiment indicators: a study of the Uruguayan case" has three objectives. First, to identify stylized facts typical of the connections between agents' expectations for the case of Uruguay. Secondly, it seeks to develop specific tools for the measurement and early capture of the state of economic sentiment (climate) based on surveys of agents' expectations, and on news analysis, applying natural language processing techniques.

The project is funded by the Sectorial Commission for Scientific Research – CSIC / UdelaR. The coordinating team is formed by Professors Bibiana Lanzilotta and Gabriela Mordecki, and the working team is formed by Professors Joaquín Torres, Viviana Umpiérrez (IECON), Gabriel Brida, Lucía Rosich, Emiliano Alvarez and Marcelo Alvez (Research Group in Economic Dynamics (GIDE), FCEA, UdelaR), Aiala Rosá and Luis Chiruzzo (Institute of Computing, FING, UdelaR).
