DT 10-23 Indicadores de desarrollo: El rol de la descentralización fiscal y la calidad de gobierno
- Research group: Political Economy and Fiscal Policy
- Year: 2023
The main objective is to study the macroeconomic effects of different types of fiscal policies, mainly from an empirical point of view. It combines comparative approaches at the international level, for the Uruguayan economy, and at the level of regions within countries.
The main lines of research are related to:
a) Analysis of the socioeconomic impact of decentralization.
b) Study the quality of government as a determinant of applying different public policies.
c) Analysis of the determinants of the efficiency of different public policies.
d) Study the effects of different fiscal policies on economic growth and income disparities (personal and regional).
By addressing several of these issues, the team seeks to contribute to policymakers through precise economic policy recommendations, specifically fiscal policies.
The team is eager to assist students with their education by mentoring undergraduate and master's theses, research initiation projects (CSIC), and projects funded by the Student Research Support Program (CSIC).
