Public Finance Database

It contains the series and methodological notes resulting from the project “Finanzas públicas en el Uruguay del siglo XX" (Public Finances in the 20th century, the Uruguayan case") carried out by the Economic History Group of the Instituto de Economía and initially published in the book "De quiénes, para quiénes y para qué. Las finanzas públicas en el Uruguay del siglo XX. Editorial Fin de Siglo, Montevideo, Uruguay (Azar, P., Bertino, M., Bertoni, R., Fleitas, S., García Repetto, U., Sanguinetti, C., Sienra, M. and Torrelli, M., 2009. UdelaR and Editorial Fin de Siglo, Montevideo, Uruguay).

It also contains updates of the main series, calculated based on official data, for the first decades of the 21st century. The data is presented at current prices and include corrections derived from changes in the value of the peso, which took place in 1975 - 1000 pesos became worth 1 nuevo peso - and in 1993 when 1000 nuevos pesos became worth 1 Uruguayan peso.
